$7,400,000,000,000 is the new $800,000,000,000

The Fed pledges $7.4trillion to ease the credit crisis.

That's roughly between $24,000 - $25,000 per person in the United States.

Nothing like polluting our inheritance: "Nevertheless, if they pollute their inheritances they shall be thrown down; for I will not spare them if they pollute their inheritances" (D&C 103:14). I've wondered what catastrophic event would lead the United States to warp-speed over the line wherein we cannot pay back the deficit; this appears to be such an event. Our stupidity and failure act in righteousness has caused our children's children to be in debt bondage -- at least perceived debt.

I am, however, smiling at my new found treasure: Lysander Spooner's "No Treason: The Constitution of No Authority" (http://www.lysanderspooner.org/bib_new.htm). I like his take on the responsibility of those placed under this debt who realize they have never been contracted to support this government...
